The Bayou Oaks Fruit Hogs have announced Blake Erquiaga as their captain. Erquiaga, a local to the Bayou Oaks, is one of the inventors of the sport and has been an avid player from the beginning.
"I'm really excited to get started," the new captain said when asked about the position. He has a reputation as one of the best goal scorers in the sport of oarball, and he is expected to play left forward for the Hogs, bringing a tough, physical net front presence to the Bayou Oaks offense. Most recently, he played professional ice hockey in the Federal Hockey League, but he brings multi-sport experience, having played soccer, lacrosse, and rugby as well.
"I want this team to be a part of the neighborhood. My wife and I love this neighborhood, our daughter loves it here, and I would love for the Fruit Hogs to be a way to build up this community even more."
